The story of WP Suspension began back in 1977 in the Netherlands. In this vibrant decade, motorcycles, regardless of whether they were offroad or street bikes, already had seriously powerful engines in the usual combinations - but with suspension systems that were not really up to the task. Both motorcycle manufacturers and end consumers experienced this on a daily basis and the time was ripe for real suspension specialists. This is a statement that remains just as valid today: the suspension components of a motorcycle are the most noticeable in the truest sense of the word.
For the company founders of that time, who started out at the end of 1977 in a small workshop, this meant entering into a professional specialist business segment. With this, WP Suspension quickly succeeded in achieving a new orientation, victories and titles in motorcycle racing, the first supplier contract with motorcycle manufacturers and increasing turnover in the motorcycle accessories market. In particular, the extremely dynamic development of the Austrian brand KTM led to a strong partnership at all levels and motorcycle racing disciplines. This strategic alliance was finally sealed on the part of KTM with a one hundred percent takeover of WP Suspension in the year 1999.
With the foundation of WP Suspension Austria GmbH in 2007 as a one hundred percent owned subsidiary of CROSS Motorsport Systems AG, the management responsible for the future of the company now clearly initiated the right development for the future.
As provisionally the final, and also the biggest step in the company history, the entire assembly works of WP Suspension was moved in 2009 from the Netherlands to a new factory in Austria’s Munderfing. | The new WP Suspension manufacturing plant in Munderfing, with its totally modern appearance and very generous 12,000 square meters over two levels is very symbolic of a positive new orientation.
WP Suspension now finds itself, above all because of its geographic location right in the middle of the world of motorcycles. By making the move from the Netherlands to Austria, WP Suspension has succeeded in further accelerating the success story of victory in more than 200 world championship titles, which of course, includes names like Valentino Rossi, with even more power
of innovation and a heightened sense of quality awareness. | WP Suspension works on its core competencies - the development, production and the sale of highest quality forks, shock absorbers and steering dampers for motorcycles - in a precise and focused way.
Everything that WP Suspension achieves in winning races is directly translated into saleable products. The high quality demanded by the sport of motorcycle racing also goes straight into the complete product development, regardless of whether for street bikes, touring or motocross. Without exception, WP Suspension is dedicated to enthusiastically serving every segment in the two wheel market.
WP Suspension products are to be found as OEM components for motorcycles of important manufacturers such as BMW and KTM, in motorcycle racing, in tuning as well as in the “After Market” segment. Here WP Suspension offers high quality replacement shock absorbers and fork springs for practically all standard motorcycles, including older models, as well as outstanding “competition” suspension elements for the sports of road racing and motocross.
WP Suspension’s aim for the near future is clear: market leader and the top position in the areas of innovation, quality and excellent design. |
